Adverbs of frequency

 

With verb "be":

The adverb goes AFTER verb "be":

Positive sentence

I am usually tired.

You are always sick.

He is never hungry.

She is sometimes shopping.

Negative sentence

I am not usually happy.

You are not often sad.

He is not always boring.

She is not often angry.

Question

Am I never bored?

Are you always happy?

Is he often sad?

Are they usually tired?

 

With  other verbs (NOT verb "be"):

The adverb goes BEFORE the verb:

Positive sentence

I usually read a book.

You always run.

He never  drinks water.

She sometimes goes shopping.

Negative sentence

I don't usually go to the mall.

You don't often play the guitar.

He doesn't always eat at night.

She doesn't often nap.

Question

Do I usually buy magazines?

Do you always drive a car?

Does he often paint a house?

Does she never work on weekends?
